Working area & homing
Configure the usable bed area, axis directions, home position, travel limits and supported inputs and outputs. Homing and limit behaviour are checked against the machine’s physical travel.
CONTROLLER UPGRADES
Keep the machine you know. Bring its control electronics, operator interface and software workflow into a new generation.
We assess selected popular makes and legacy laser systems, then configure an upgrade around the machine’s mechanics, laser source and safety arrangements.
Individual assessment and conversion: POA.
BUILT AROUND WHAT YOU HAVE
A useful laser system can have plenty of working life beyond its original electronics.
The conversion starts with the machine: its motors and drives, working area, laser source, wiring and operator controls. Existing components can be retained where suitable, with the required interfaces and replacement parts agreed before installation.
A large new touchscreen is not essential. Depending on the machine, we can assess retaining or adapting its original controls, or integrating a separate LCD module.

Controller hardware is one part of the conversion. The configuration brings the motion system, laser and machine inputs together, with settings checked during commissioning.
Configure the usable bed area, axis directions, home position, travel limits and supported inputs and outputs. Homing and limit behaviour are checked against the machine’s physical travel.
Match the control interface to the laser source. Pulse-width modulation (PWM) settings, including frequency, polarity and the commanded power range, are specified alongside the laser-enable signal to suit the source’s requirements.
Match steps per millimetre, drive or microstep settings, signal timing, speed and acceleration to the motors, drives and transmission. Travel is checked by measurement; a finer command resolution alone does not guarantee better mechanical accuracy.
Review lid and door interlocks, emergency stop and laser inhibition, plus cooling, airflow or extraction monitoring where required. Protective circuits remain part of the machine’s safety system; the screen and software do not replace them. Fault and restart behaviour are checked during commissioning.
Settings and interfaces are specified for each conversion. The agreed scope includes the compatible hardware, required safety work and commissioning checks.
AT THE MACHINE
Give operators direct access to supported job and positioning controls. Display format, mounting and available functions are matched to the installation.
A bare LCD module for a suitable fascia or control panel, with the mounting and connections designed around the available space.
An enclosed display offers another way to position the controls where they are convenient for the operator.
Optional logo and company-name presentation for an interface that feels part of your machine range or workshop.
Hardware and machine images are concept illustrations. Final board layout, enclosure, display and supported controls are confirmed for the chosen configuration.
A CLEAR UPGRADE PROCESS
Share the make, model, approximate age, controller and laser type. Photographs of the machine and its existing controls help us start.
Review compatibility and agree the hardware, interfaces, software, installation and safety work required.
Set up motion, laser control and machine inputs. Check travel, job operation and the response to interlocks and faults.
Work through the supported workflow with your team and hand over the agreed machine configuration and operating guidance.
Compatibility is assessed per machine. Brand or model alone is not enough: controllers, laser sources and safety arrangements can vary. Send us the identification details and we will discuss the next step.
No. Retaining or adapting existing controls may be appropriate. A bare LCD or enclosed panel is an option where it suits the machine and the agreed installation.
The software, licence and machine interface are specified in your proposal. Depending on the agreed configuration, this can include printing from design software through SLS or a direct Forma2D drawing-to-machine workflow.
No. This offering is specifically for assessed controller conversions and their integration. We do not offer general servicing or repairs for other machine brands.
POA — Price on application. The controller, machine interfaces and installation requirements determine the scope.
